Heather Fell is only 25, but she’s already reached the pinnacle of her sport – and won an Olympic silver. She explains all about modern pentathlon.
Heather is modest about her own technical riding abilities. “I’m sure we get equestrian people looking at us and thinking that we’re not good,” she says adding that she owes much of her success in the event to Andy Reeve at St Leonards Equitation Centre in nearby Launceston.
“My jumping training has included a lot of work on shortening up and waiting for the fence to come to me,” says Heather, as she explains that her natural style is rather forward going, “Andy has a variety of horses which is great practice. I’ll quite often ride three of his horses in one lesson. |

“I also enjoy a few lessons in a dressage saddle and I’ve done a bit of piaffe and some three-time changes,” she adds. “But I ache like mad afterwards.”
